Recreating pictures, 36 years later...

My sister and I will be visiting WDW soon, and I'd like to try to recreate a few pictures we took 36 years ago. Can anyone tell me if these locations/angles are still there and accessible for photos in the Magic Kingdom?

1) I think this may have been the boat launch area for Tom Sawyer Island- but I'm not sure...

2) Obviously Adventureland- but is this sign still there and accessible?

3) Near Jungle Cruise? I think this area has been refurbed. There were drumming sounds coming out of the openings back then, but I think I recall a water spray effect in this area now...

4) Where was this castle angle captured? And do you think my mom would be insulted if we tried to recreate her photography skills here, cut-off bodies and all? (Sorry Mom- love you.)

5) The flowers are gone, but is this perhaps the first little side street off of Main Street,
close to where the silhouette artist now sits? I believe there may be a SOTMK portal here as well...

Please let me know in the comments if you can share any current info about these locations. Thank you!

  1. I think the areas you have photographed are similar enough today for your reshoots. And how fun! You'll have to post the new pics.

  2. I just have one question~ can we recreate the dresses, too? Love these photos! I think we'll be able to capture most of them- just wondering about that one back-side-of-the-castle angle...

    1. The dresses might not be possible, but I bet we can shoot for the same color scheme. Our wardrobes that year must have been holdovers from the bicentennial the year before. And we're going to need a skilled photographer to get that castle angle just right...

  3. sounds still do come from the tiki statues, adventureland sign is gone, never did understand that one. the camera angle showing the castle is the bridge coming over from tomorrowland, from cosmic rays, towards the hub. there are angled cement railing type things and it is all still there! i believe you can get the same photo "effects" via instagram!

  5. This is so fun!! I can confirm what Donna said that the statues do still play sounds, but they also now spray mist/water. We've spent many a warm afternoon playing in the area. :)

  9. Great idea! The castle shot is between the Tomorrowland bridge and the area they have the Dessert party in. You'll know it when you see it. Trash cans are still in the same place;)The flower cart area isn't there anymore. When they expanded the shops they enclosed it. We used to take a pic there each visit. maybe you can find a flower cart on the other side.
